The Mercedes G-Class is one of the few surviving motoring icons that can trace its design to the original. Sure, it has evolved massively these past few years, yet the average Joe probably cannot tell the difference between the new and old ones, and that's a win in our book.
This highly versatile premium truck is the perfect companion for a quick getaway off the beaten path, a game of basketball with the gang, and dinner at a fancy restaurant with the missus, and it won't look out of place anywhere. Unfortunately, it doesn't get as much off-roading beating as it deserves, despite being a proper 4x4 with body-on-frame construction, as it has become a constant presence at shopping malls instead, where no curb can rest in peace.
With so many copies of the modern-day Mercedes G-Wagen being out there, cruising the roads of different countries on most continents, it is no wonder that some of those deep-pocketed owners want theirs to stand out. This is where tuners such as Carlex Design step in. Why mention this exact company? Because the pictured 4x4 came from their garage, and it is unlike anything you have seen (probably).
It is christened the Carlex G-Vantage Rose for obvious reasons. ‘G’ stands for 'G-Class,' or 'G 63' in this case, 'Vintage' because it is a retro take on this model, and 'Rose' emphasizes its look inside and out. Some may say it is pink, and they wouldn't be wrong, but we won't delve into the color part, as we believe that the hue suits this project, especially with the extra chrome on the front and rear bumpers, on the window surrounds, roof, doors, and other body panels.
